Do You Dry Brush? Why You’ll Want to Start…

Yes, the term ‘dry brushing’ sounds unpleasant–even painful!  Most of you would probably avoid it at all costs. But not only is dry brushing fantastic for your skin tone (like in those areas looking a little cellulite-y…), it needn’t hurt one bit!

Here’s what you need to know…

Dry brushing stimulates the flow of the lymphatic system throughout your body. This is the system responsible for escorting out the many toxins that enter our bodies each day. Lymph circulates throughout the body a little like blood, except that it has no heart to keep it pumping. Our muscles need to contract to keep lymph flowing. OR, we can help it along with massage and dry brushing!

Using a dry brush all over your body before a shower is an amazing way to detox. You’ll notice smoother, tighter skin and less cellulite over time as your lymph gets back up to speed and your skin is exfoliated.

Before you start brushing, some experts suggest that you massage the body’s two main lymph ducts, found just below the collarbone on either side. Rub them for a minute or two and then start using the brush (try a medium-bristle brush like the example below), gently brushing toward your heart in light, circular movements. Never brush hard enough to scratch your skin, though you will feel tingling as circulation increases in those neglected areas.

This type of massage can transform the look of your skin, leaving it tighter and brighter. After you bathe, massage in a natural lotion to see your skin look its best. Dry brush once a week (or up to 6 times a week if you remember!) and you’ll be amazed at the change in your skin. Let me know how it works for you!
