Sip this Infused Water for Better Digestion
Drinking water infused with fruit or herbs is a smart and tasty way to hydrate and cleanse without getting overloaded with sugar and calories. I’ve always liked the Hint waters that are just slightly flavored with natural ingredients, but there’s really no sense in spending a few bucks on a bottle of water when you can make an entire pitcher of infused water for a fraction of the price (and drink it all day long!).
Depending on the ingredients you infuse, this type of drink also offers tons of great health benefits. This holiday season, I’ve been sipping a lemon ginger infusion in my Takeya Fruit Infusion Jug.* The jug is BPA-free, comes with a built-in strainer (no lemon pits in my water) and I’ve noticed that it keeps my infusions fresh for a very long time, if I don’t get to finish them immediately. Lemon is one of my favorite beauty foods (there’s always a heaping bowl in my kitchen) because it works so hard to cleanse our over-taxed liver. Adding lemon water to your day can make a huge difference in your digestion- and the appearance of your skin. And ginger is a celebrated digestive aid that has potent anti-inflammatory properties (also a big beauty plus). If you’re searching for an inexpensive and flavorful drink to keep you hydrated, look no further…
- 1 organic lemon
- 3″ peeled ginger root
- 66 oz pure, filtered water
- Slice the lemon into ¼”thick rounds and drop into a pitcher. If there is any pulp left in the ends of the lemon, squeeze the juice into the pitcher as well. Thinly slice the peeled ginger root and add to the pitcher. Top with filtered water and infuse for 30 minutes or more before drinking.
Note to my readers: Takeya generously sent me their Fruit Infusion Jug to test and use to create a healthy beauty recipe for Beauty Is Wellness. The jug gets my wholehearted thumbs-up! Naturally, you can use another pitcher to make this recipe!
