Green smoothies may get you through most days of the year, but the holidays call for something a little more special. As you anticipate your delicious Thanksgiving meal, give yourself, your skin and your digestion a pick-me-up with a festive sweet/tart cranberry drink. Check out my easy recipe below.
Why raw cranberries?
Cranberry juice is an amazing beauty and health drink, packed with antioxidants and vitamin C. It may even help you reduce cellulite, since it helps digest stored lymphatic fat. Cranberry juice emulsifies lymphatic fat thanks to its concentration of digestive enzymes, says Dr. Ann Louise Gittleman. “Cranberries are a high source of phytonutrients including phenols and bioflavonoids which in of themselves strengthen connective tissue,” she adds. And the vitamin C boost from oranges fights age-promoting free radicals.
Here’s the juice for you to sip on T-giving morning, and beyond (as long as fresh cranberries are available in stores!). Don’t worry, it won’t make your mouth pucker!
- 1 cup fresh, raw cranberries
- 1 cup purified water
- ½ orange, outer peel removed.
- Using a Vitamix or other high-powered blender, blend all three ingredients on high for 1-2 minutes, or until completely liquified. Season with cinnamon if desired.
